The Melting Pot® created a cookbook to
- Enhance their brand by positioning themselves as fondue experts
- Connect with customers by educating and providing tools for their customers to have fondue at home
- Create a permanent advertising piece by offering a “must-have collector’s edition" of fondue recipes
- Drive customers into their restaurants by inserting coupons in the back of the book, which were redeemable at restaurant locations nationwide
Favorite Recipes Press managed the entire process, including
- Provided creative input on theme and title development
- Hired the writer, photographer, and food stylist, and provided on-site art direction
- Edited recipes and text
- Designed all elements of the cookbook
- Manufactured an “environmentally friendly” book using agri-inks and recycled materials
- Developed a “sales kit” and distributed to each Melting Pot location
- Created and implemented a public relations campaign
- Handled order fulfillment for all Melting Pot locations
- Distributed to the trade via The Cookbook Marketplace
Results
- Sold through first printing of 15,000 copies in only four months
- The book is currently in its sixth printing
- More than 18,000 sold by the restaurants
- More than 24,000 sold through the trade
- An additional 3,500 sold through corporate Web site
- Total of 45,000 copies sold as of January 2012
